Bank of Uganda and security officials are still in shock after a shadowy group of experienced hackers calling themselves “Waste” based in Southeast Asia penetrated the Central Bank’s IT infrastructure firewalls and successfully took away Shs62.4 billion that was to used to fund part of Uganda recently announced budget.

Sources say a fortnight ago BOU officials noticed that over Shs62 billions on the treasury account was nowhere to be seen ,on investigating the matter it was noticed that someone had tampered with the computer systems.

BOU officials have now revealed that they are waiting for a report from police as investigations go on.
