UNEB SPEAKS ON PLE 2026 RELEASE.
KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda National Examinations Board dismissed reports Wednesday that the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations results has been delayed by a recent internet shutdown. Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, the board’s principal public relations officer, said claims linking the results timeline to the Jan. 14 internet interruption are false. She noted the reports were intended to cause panic among candidates and parents. The marking, verification and quality assurance processes for the exams are progressing as planned, according to the board. The release date will be announced in due course, Kalule-Musamba said. There is no cause for alarm. The process is continuing as planned. The board also issued a warning regarding fraudsters impersonating members of the Uneb security committee to extort money from school heads. These individuals reportedly claim they can alter results or remove names from lists of suspected malpractice in exchange for payment. Officials stressed that the board does not offer services to influence examination outcomes and urged school administrators not to engage with anyone making such offers. Uneb asked the public to report suspected fraud to the police or use the board’s toll-free lines at 0800-111-427 and 0800-211-077. The board stated that whistleblowers will be protected under its established policy.
