Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake has been rushed to hospital after a scuffle broke out in the chambers of Parliament during plenary sitting.

This is after Mr Zaake raised fears of insecurity in the House chambers claiming some people who are not MPs had entered the House with guns.

It is alleged that after his submission, Mr Zaake proceeded to where Kilak North MP Anthony Akol was seated and tried to take up his seat prompting a retaliation. In the video circulating on social media, Mr Zaake is seen being punched severally by Mr Akol until he fell on the floor.

Earlier, Speaker Anitah Among evoked Rule 9 and declared a free sitting, given the huge numbers of MPs in the Chambers today, allowing the Opposition members to mix with the ruling NRM Members of Parliament.

This was during a special plenary session to discuss the much-contested Coffee Amendment Bill (2024).
